Audubon Society announces 2019 bird photography award winners

The National Audubon Society has announced the 2019 winners of its annual photography competition, and the birds are looking great.

In addition to the Grand Prize, which went to Kathrin Swoboda for her photo of a Red-winged Blackbird, the contest awards prizes in four divisions: professional, amateur, youth, and plants for birds. There’s also the Fisher Prize, which goes to a photograph “depicting the most creative approach to bird photography across all divisions.”

Bernie Sanders reacts to bizarre fan merchandise featuring his face

There are a lot of creative Bernie Sanders fans out there.

Some of them are so dedicated to the Democratic candidate’s cause that they’ve even made some wonderfully odd merchandise featuring his face.

In the Jimmy Kimmel Live clip above, the host presents Sanders with some of the more obscure items he’s inspired — from a “St. Bernie” candle to a cap honouring the podium bird, and t-shirt that shows multiple Bernie Sanders’ reaching for the moon.

Cat burglars? Out. Bear burglars? In.

One sneaky bear proved the lengths to which its kind would go to get some sweet sweet noms. A Colorado couple affixed a bird feeder to their backyard shed, in a kind move for birds. They knew that bears were prevalent in their area, so they also attached a bell to the feeder in the hopes that the noise would dissuade any non-bird creatures looking to feed. 

The bell was not enough. The couple (seemingly from safely within their home) captured one…
